A Cuelist doesn't have a separate playback mode to switch into: the same view you build it in is the live view. This means what you see while operating a show is exactly what you saw while building it, with cue state shown directly against each row.
Read cue state#
Each cue's own icon shows its current state at a glance: whether it's simply queued in the list, currently selected as the next cue to execute, actively running, or has completed. Watch this indicator, not a separate status panel, to know where a show actually is.
Advance the Cuelist#
Three actions move a Cuelist forward, available both as transport controls in the Cuelist editor and as Internal Actions you can place elsewhere (see
Control a Cuelist from a Position):
- Select next: moves the current selection to the next cue without running anything yet.
- Select previous: moves the selection back to the previous cue, the same way.
- Execute selected (GO): runs whichever cue is currently selected, then automatically advances the selection to the following cue (or clears the selection entirely if you just ran the last cue in the list).
Because Execute selected (GO) already advances the selection on its own, a typical show rhythm is just: confirm the right cue is selected, then select Execute selected (GO) to run it and line up the next cue in one step. Reach for Select next/Select previous only when you need to reposition the selection without running anything (for example, skipping a cue or backing up to re-run one).
If you get stuck#
What you see | What to try |
|---|
The wrong cue runs when you select Execute selected (GO). | Check which cue is currently selected before executing: Select next/Select previous change the selection without running anything, so confirm the selection first. |
You expect a cue to stop partway through and it doesn't. | A running cue runs its action stack to completion; there is currently no control to interrupt a cue once it starts. Plan delays and groupings with that in mind. |
You need to jump straight to a specific cue rather than stepping through one at a time. | Select the cue directly in the list, then select Execute selected (GO), rather than repeatedly stepping with Select next. |
Where to go next#
