A complex production environment
The Stockholm project, with its massive 42-camera setup and surveillance-style approach, presented a unique set of challenges. They needed a control system that could be rapidly deployed, easily managed, and seamlessly integrated with existing technology. Bitfocus Buttons was the ideal solution.
Davor Saric, technical manager at Metronome Rental, highlighted how prior experience with Bitfocus' free software, Companion and Stream Deck hardware had already established a level of trust and familiarity. The recently released software Buttons offered a faster interface for building control panels, a familiar connection engine, and seamless integration with their existing technology. These factors, combined with Buttons' fast deployment and scalability, made it the obvious choice for this complex production.
Speed and flexibility on site
One of the key advantages of Buttons was its rapid deployment and infrastructure setup. In the time-sensitive world of television production, this was crucial. The new Stream Deck Studio panel from Elgato further streamlined the process by simplifying network connectivity through ethernet and power over ethernet. As the project evolved and grew, Buttons easily accommodated additional hardware, connections, and panels, demonstrating its scalability and adaptability.
The Bitfocus team also contributed to the project's success by providing on-site commissioning and assistance. This ensured a smooth workflow and allowed Metronome Rental to focus on the creative and technical aspects of the production.
A practical approach for large scale productions
Metronome Rental's successful implementation of Bitfocus Buttons for this large-scale reality TV production demonstrates the power of innovation and collaboration. By embracing new technologies and working closely with industry partners, Metronome Rental continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in television production. As the industry continues to evolve, it is companies like Metronome Rental that will lead the way, setting new standards for efficiency, innovation, and quality.
“This project marked a milestone as one of our first full integrations of Buttons in a complex production environment, alongside Elgato’s Stream Deck Studios. It was inspiring to work with such a highly skilled crew with great ambitions, who were continuously working to improve and optimize every aspect of the workflow and operation.”
