A routing Preset stores a list of source-to-destination mappings so they can be recalled together. Use one to prepare or restore a known routing setup without selecting each route again.
Routing Presets were previously called salvos. They are unrelated to the button presets supplied by connections and to Virtual Matching Presets.
Warning
Executing a routing Preset can change several destinations at once. Build and test this example with non-production ATEM destinations.
Filter Sources and Destinations to the ATEM connection.
Select the first source and destination. Buttons stages their port mappings without executing them.
Select the + control at the bottom. Its tooltip reads Add to Preset.
Stage another source and destination, then select + again.
The temporary Routing Preset panel accumulates the mappings. Adding them to the panel does not execute the routes.
If a new mapping targets a destination already in the temporary Preset, the newer mapping replaces the earlier one for that destination. A Preset stores one intended source or release operation for each destination.
In the temporary panel, you can:
Remove an individual mapping.
Select mappings and choose Clear Selected Routes.
Select Clear to discard the entire temporary Preset.
Select Execute Preset to run the temporary mappings without saving them.
You can build a Preset from the current routes of selected destinations instead of staging new source choices. This is useful when the controlled system is already in a known state that you want to recall later.
Open Routing and set Active to Live.
Select the destinations whose current routes should be captured. Do not select a source.
Select the + control. Its tooltip reads Add Active Routes to Preset.
Open the temporary Routing Preset panel and review the captured source-to-destination mappings.
Select Save and name the Preset.
Buttons captures the source it resolves for each selected destination at that time. Review the temporary mappings before saving, especially if a destination has no active source or its state is uncertain.
Stage source and destination mappings in the routing dialog.
Select Add Routes in the dialog footer.
Mappings for new destinations are added. If a staged mapping uses a destination already in the Preset, it replaces the existing mapping for that destination. Turn on Add multiple when you want the dialog to remain open for another batch.
Select the mappings whose destinations should follow the current live state, then choose Replace with current route. Buttons replaces the stored source for each eligible destination with the source currently resolved for that destination.
Review the changed mappings before relying on the Preset as a restore point.
A Custom Router can present saved routing Presets as operator controls.
Open the position editor and select a Custom Router.
Open the Routing sidebar, then find Routing Presets.
Choose how the generated control should behave:
Direct Take executes the Preset immediately.
Select Preset adds it to the selections owned by the Custom Router so the operator can use Take afterward.
Drag the Preset into the Custom Router, or select it and place it in an empty slot.
Select Apply.
Use Select Preset when the layout should separate selection from execution. Direct Take creates intentional one-press execution and should be placed where an accidental press will not disrupt production.
Any button can run a saved Preset with the internal action Execute Routing Preset, without a Custom Router. Use it when one press should recall a known setup and the control does not need Custom Router selection state.
Select the button in the position editor.
Add an action and choose Execute Routing Preset from the internal actions.
Under Routing Preset, select the saved Preset.
When the button is pressed, Buttons executes every mapping in the Preset at once.
The same action is available in workflows through the Internal Action node, for example to recall a Preset on a schedule or from an incoming trigger. See Internal workflow nodes.
To light the button when the Preset's routes are in place, add the internal feedback Routing Preset Status:
Routing Preset: the saved Preset to watch.
Requirements: Every route is active to show the Preset as fully recalled, Some route is active to show it as partly in place, or No route is active to show that none of its routes are active.
Buttons checks each mapping against the routes currently resolved for its destination, the same way as the status shown for each mapping on the Preset's detail page.
